Testing Facilities
Testing is performed by independent testing facilities, that are recognised by RecyClass to perform the Sorting and Recyclability Evaluation Protocols for specific types of packaging. The laboratories take charge of the samples to be tested and provide a comprehensive of the results to the applicant and RecyClass.
Advisory board
Composed of Platinum Member representatives. It monitors the work of RecyClass and proposes new activities in line with the latest market developments.
Certification bodies
RecyClass collaborates with external Certification Bodies that are recognised to carry out audits in accordance with RecyClass certification schemes.
Recyclability Certification Bodies
Decoration taskforces
Working under the umbrella of the Technical Committees, two dedicated taskforces focus on decoration applied on rigid or flexible packaging, respectively. Those groups aim to map, define and evaluate the compatibility with recycling of all the existing decorative technologies available on the EU market.
HDPE TC
RecyClass Technical Committees are composed of at least 5 participants including recyclers and Advisory Board representatives, who are elected by the RecyClass members for a period of time of 2 years. All the other Platinum members can attend the TC meetings as guests. The main activities of Technical Committees include the elaboration of testing methods, assessment of innovative technologies and products, as well as the update of the Design for Recycling Guidelines.
PET TC
RecyClass Technical Committees are composed of at least 5 participants including recyclers and Advisory Board representatives, who are elected by the RecyClass members for a period of time of 2 years. PET Thermoform taskforce
Working under the umbrella of the PET Technical Committee, this taskforce focuses on the elaboration of testing methods, Design for Recycling Guidelines and testing innovation specifically for PET Thermoforms packaging.
PO FILMS TC
RecyClass Technical Committees are composed of at least 5 participants including recyclers and Advisory Board representatives, who are elected by the RecyClass members for a period of time of 2 years. Recycled Plastic Taskforce
The main focus of this group is the development of Recycling Process and Recycled Plastics Traceability Certification Schemes, with the aim of harmonising the approach to the traceability of the origin of plastic waste and of the plastic material throughout the value chain. The overall goal is to set benchmarks for the traceability and calculation of recycled content in plastic products.
Recycling Claims Taskforce
Linked to the certification schemes, RecyClass aims to create a level-playing field in Europe by providing guidance on how to communicate transparently on certified recyclability and recycled content of plastics.

Sorting Taskforce
The Sorting Taskforce works independently from the Technical Committees and focuses on the sorting step of the waste management system. Sortability is a key component in determind the recyclability of plastic packaging.
Developing and maintaining the Sorting Evaluation Protocol for all plastic packaging is the main task of the group. This protocol provides a standardised approach to assess sortability and serves as a basis for specific test campaigns requested by the other working groups.
Steering Board
Composed of 11 plastic value chain representatives. The Board defines the priorities of RecyClass and steers the work that takes place in the different Technical Committees and Taskforces.
